Increased breakout force, smoother digging motion and faster excavator cycle are promised with SMP Part's new bucket generation.

Increased breakout force, smoother digging motion and a faster excavator cycle are promised with Optiline, SMP Part's new generation of buckets. According to the manufacturer, this means less wear and tear on the machine, which in turn means longer life and lower fuel consumption.

Since 1980, SMP Parts has been developing and manufacturing peripheral equipment for various types of primarily excavators. These are mainly quick couplers, tiltrotators and buckets. This spring the company, with production in Ilsbo, has launched a completely new generation of buckets, in sizes ranging from 600 to 800 litres, designed primarily for boom machines from thirteen to fifteen tonnes, although they cover a slightly wider range.

- We are also developing buckets for smaller machines, but they are not ready for production yet. One noticeable difference from before is that we are using a high-strength steel. This has enabled us to reduce the weight of the bucket by ten per cent, compared to our previous tubular bucket models, without compromising performance," says Tom Sahlén.

- To create the best possible balance between bucket and machine, multiple radii are used in the sweep. This allows the full breaking power of the machine to be used, which is valuable for those digging in hard material or breaking up rock. The design provides a more stable machine and increased speed in the excavation cycle. In addition, the length of the bucket roof provides an optimum stress concentration that prevents fatigue at vulnerable points.
The new Optiline series is designed for the S60 attachment and has been introduced to the market at a time that seems almost perfect.

- The market is red hot. Although we increased the budget substantially before the year, we are 20% over. We have ensured that we have production capacity available in case our own is not enough. There are several high-quality production facilities in Hälsingland, so we can certainly meet our target of having buckets in stock to keep delivery times down," says Tom Sahlén.
It's not just the smaller buckets that are in demand. In particular, there is interest in larger models in Norway, where two five-cubic-metre buckets are being tested.

- The large buckets are based on the same concept as the 3.2 cubic metre bucket on display at the stand.
SMP Parts has also entered into a partnership with Leica Geosystems. The excavators equipped with the company's tiltrotator and Macs ST control system are automatically prepared for Leica's Icon system, which promises to give the operator full control and visibility of the bucket's location and position via an in-cab display.

- This allows the machine operator to carry out complex excavation work from the cab without the assistance of a colleague outside," says Tom Sahlén.

SMP Parts is broadening its range of buckets with the Optiline series, which promises to increase productivity and reduce fuel consumption.
