Industry leader with Global Experience Joins SMP’s Board of Directors
SMP strengthens its Board of Directors by welcoming Bo-Göran Johansson, a highly experienced industry leader with more than 30 years of international experience within the construction, mining, and infrastructure sectors. Bo-Göran holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Örebro University and an MBA in Marketing, combining deep technical expertise with strong business and leadership capabilities.
Bo-Göran Johansson brings an extensive professional background from leading industrial and technology-driven companies. He spent more than 22 years at Epiroc, where he held several senior international management and technical roles, including global responsibility for surface drilling product portfolios, tunnel and rock reinforcement systems, and technical aftermarket organizations across North and South America. During his tenure, he was based in Sweden, Japan, and the United States. Bo-Göran also served as Nordic Manager at SSE Sverige AB and earlier in his career, he worked at ABB Stal as an auxiliary systems design engineer for large-scale power and heat generation plants.
In addition to his executive and technical background, Bo-Göran has served as board member and chairman in several industry-related organizations. Including Bergteknisk forskning (Befo), Rock Tech Center (RTC), SweMin, Swebrec, and the Nordic Road Association (NVF). He has previously held the roles of Chairman of Befo and Chairman of NVF’s Tunneling Section.
Today, Bo-Göran Johansson runs his own advisory company focused on interim executive roles, project management, and strategic technical advisory. He is also engaged as a technical expert in large infrastructure projects, contributing specialist knowledge in areas such as explosives engineering, rock excavation and reinforcement, equipment systems, and electrification.
